HYDRANTS
The Township of Upper Makefield does not have "City" water for residential use or for Fire Hydrants. The Upper Makefield Fire Company uses local water sources such as rivers, streams, canals, and ponds for use in emergencies. The Company also carries water on the Apparatus (listed below) for use in times of emergencies.
The only streets in Upper Makefield Township that have Fire Hydrants are the following, Sentinel Rd, Hessian Run Rd, Heritage Hills Dr, Commanders Dr, Dispatch Dr, Tankard Rd, Lexington Ct, Brandywine Ct, Terrell Dr, Decision Way East, Court Jester, the high end of Canal Run West, Beidler Dr., McConkey Dr., Dillon Dr., Barton's Mill Dr., Betts Dr. & Van Artsdalen Dr. These hydrants are maintained be Upper Makefield Township and are supplied by the water tank at Heritage Hills. There are also a couple of hydrants located on Rt. 532 between Lindenhurst Rd. & Highland Rd. These are maintained by the Lower Makefield Water Department due to being part of an existing system in the Farmview Development. There are no other streets in Upper Makefield Township that have pressurized hydrants on them.
There are a couple of streets in newer developments that have "dry" hydrants to assist the fire company. The "dry" hydrants are hooked to pipe underground so they do not have to put hose in the street during fire emergencies. These "dry" hydrant systems are not hooked up to a water supply, they are supplied by the responding apparatus. The following streets have "Dry Hydrants", Ely Farm Lane, Aldans Way, Old Cabin Road and Lenape Drive.
