The Upper Makefield Fire Company is teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association® (NFPA®) — the official sponsor of Fire Prevention Week for over 100 years to promote this year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign, “Charge into Fire Safety™: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home.”

This year’s Fire Prevention Week™ (October 5–11, 2025) shines a spotlight on lithium-ion battery safety with the theme “Charge into Fire Safety™: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home.” In addition to battery safety tips for adults, NFPA has created special messaging just for kids. These resources help children understand both the power and the potential dangers of lithium-ion batteries, and teach them how they can play an active role in staying safe when using or charging everyday devices. From lesson plans to activities, official campaign materials are designed to reinforce important safety messages in fun, age-appropriate ways, making it easy for educators to bring Fire Prevention Week into the classroom.
